Weeping Water Alumni Banquet

This year's Weeping Water Alumni Banquet was a huge success! Everyone had a wonderful time catching up with old friends, the guest speakers, and the great food! The evening started off with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. Then a funny video clip was played around 6:30 p.m. of Weeping Water's own teachers telling everyone to get into their seats and get ready for the banquet.

An invocation was given before the food was served by candle light by the Weeping Water Assembly #5 Rainbow Girls. After everyone received their food the entertainment was given. It was a video of numerous Weeping Water alumni sharing their great memories at Weeping Water High School. The video was a fun was to start the Alumni Banquet.

Honorary classes were recognized and the business meeting took place before the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award was awarded to Regina "Jean" Colbert. A video remembering those who passed away was played and then there was a drawing for numerous prizes donated from various Weeping Water businesses.

All in all the 117th Weeping Water Alumni Banquet was a great. Over 170 people were in attendance. The update in technology was enjoyed by all and everyone can't wait for next year's banquet!

Weeping Water Featured in Statewide Magazine

Nebraska Life magazine is featuring Weeping Water in its May/June 2008 issue! The goal of Nebraska Life magazine is to celebrate the people and places of Nebraska through high-quality stories and photography. Writers and photographers, Bobbi and Steve Olson, visited Weeping Water, talked with local citizens, and took pictures of various residents and attractions.

The eight-page article, "A Nebraska 'Boom' Town: Weeping Water" focuses on several aspects of the community, including its historic buildings, the PCS Phosphate Mine, and Limestone Days. The Olsons even took a tour of the mine and got a first-hand perspective of our important local industry. They also took the time to stop at local establishments and enjoyed the company, as well as eating "the best bacon cheeseburgers they've ever had the pleasure to devour" at Teri's Cafe.

Photos from the Olson's visit to Weeping Water can be viewed at http://www.NebraskaLife.com
Nebraska Life, now entering its twelfth year. It celebrates life and culture of Nebraska. It is published six times a year. The magazine is available by subscription for $21 per year to Nebraska residents and to former Nebraskans by calling 1-800-777-6159. Brad White's ministry includes vocal music as well as impressive saxophone and piano artistry. His talent and humor make for an enjoyable experience, but his focus is always on pointing people to the religious meaning of the concert. A concert with Brad is an event that appeals to all ages. Brad includes music from the great hymns of the church to southern gospel to modern praise and worship. The younger crowd is awed by the "flying fingers" on the instruments; the older are blessed by the inclusion of yesterday's classics. Brad White has received two Grammy Nominations.

Spoken 4 Quartet from Branson, MO is a ministry event enjoyed by the whole church! You won't want to miss this incredible concert! Back by popular demand! Don't miss this awesome concert with Grammy & Dove Award Winner Tommy Fairchild, and one of the lowest bass singers you will ever hear! If you love the very best of male quartet harmony with a powerful, moving performance, this is the concert for you!
