Weeping Water Newsletter

The Cass County Fair just keeps getting better and better! Included in this week's newsletter are pictures and results from the Cass County Queen Contest which was held on Wednesday night at the fair. Also included are new and updated community events you won't want to miss!

 Cass County Queen Contest

The Cass County Queen contest took place last Wednesday at the Open Air Auditorium at  the Fairgrounds. There were nine girls competing for the very prestigious title of Cass County Queen. Those who participated in the pagent were: Tasha Schuelke-Miss Alvo, Rachel Bond-Miss Avoca, Marie Bolin-Miss Eagle, Sierra Ronhovde-Miss Elmwood, Stephanie Rodrigues-Miss Louisville, Mallory Buck-Miss Murdock, Lucy Myrtue-Miss Murray, Kylie Parshall-Miss Plattsmouth, and Hannah Moser-Miss Weeping Water.

Each contestant had to perform a 3-5 minute speech on the Fair's theme for this year: "Old Traditions/Breaking Ground." All the girls did a great job with their speeches. You could see a big wave of relief from each girl as they finished their speech successfully. Who would blame them? The Auditorium was full!

After all the girls were finished with their speeches they were required to answer a question drawn at random from the fishbowl. As I was watching, there were some questions I definitely would have struggled to answer, but all the girls answered the questions with a great amount of poise and positive energy.

After a long deliberation from the judges, the decision was made. Rachel Bond-Miss Avoca was selected as Cass County Princess and Sierra Ronhovde-Miss Elmwood was crowned Cass County Queen. Congratulations to all the girls on a job well done and to Hannah Moser for representing our Community very well!

All the contestants and the crowd joining in patriotic songs to pass the long deliberation time.

Husker Spot is the only interactive social network for Nebraska fans. Nate Ohlrich created it in August of 2007 with the idea of connecting Nebraska fans from wherever they live (from within Nebraska to virtually around the world). With the internet, this is now possible to create a community of the best college football fans in the country, bring them together, and let them interact with each other. On Husker Spot you can comment on and start forum discussions, write in your own personal Husker blog, and share videos, pictures, and music. YOu can also play Nebraska related games, view online auctions of Nebraska Cornhusker fan gear and merchandise, read about the history of the Nebraska football team, and much more. Currently there are over 550 members, over 700 photos, over 80 Husker videos, over 300 discussions about Nebraska athletics, and over 120 blog posts about Nebraska related posts. And possibly the best thing about his online community of Nebraska fans, is that it's FREE to join! The address to the site is:http://www.HuskerSpot.com and the official title is "Husker Spot-Nebraska Football Fans." There are new things added to Husker Spot daily, so there is always something new to watch or read related to Nebraska sports.
