ORDINANCE #607 WAS ADOPTED AT THE NOVEMBER 12, 2012 CITY COUNCIL MEETING.  THIS ORDINANCE, WHICH ALLOWS FOR THE USE OF ATV'S ON CITY STREETS, WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT UNTIL 15 DAYS AFTER ADOPTION, OR NOVEMBER 27, 2012, BUT YOU MAY STILL STOP AT THE CITY OFFICE TO REGISTER YOUR ATV NOW.  THERE  IS A $25 REGISTRATION FEE.  COPIES OF THIS ORDINANCE ARE ALSO AVAILABLE.

 CALLING ALL TEACHERS AND PARENTS OF GIFTED WRITING STUDENTS

HILDEGARD CENTER FOR THE ARTS IS OFFERING AN EXCITING WRITING COMPETITION FOR KIDS IN GRADES 6-12 THAT WILL RESULT IN A PUBLISHED BOOK.  THE THEME OF THE COMPETITION IS "HEROES" AND INVITES KIDS TO WRITE ABOUT THEIR HEROES KNOWN TO THEM PERSONALLY OR IN THEIR COMMUNITY.  ENTRIES MUST BE 500 WORDS OR LESS AND CAN BE IN THE FORM OF A SHORT STORY, ESSAY, POETRY, MEMOIR, BLOG, A DIARY/JOURNAL ENTRY OR SONG LYRICS.  WINNING ENTRIES WILL BE PUBLISHED IN A BOOK AND THE STUDENTS, ALONG WITH THEIR HEROES AND SCHOOLS WILL BE HONORED AT SPECIAL RECEPTION NEXT SPRING, APRIL 28, 2013 AT LINCOLN SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL.  ALL WINNERS, THEIR HEROES AND SCHOOLS WILL RECEIVE A FREE COPY OF THEIR PUBLISHED BOOK.

COMPETITION ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED ON-LINE AT www.hildegardcenter.org AND BE FACILITATED BY EITHER A TEACHER, PARENT OR ADULT.  PARTICIPATING STUDENTS MUST ALSO BE IN GRADES 6-12 AND LIVE WITHIN A 50-MILE RADIUS OF LINCOLN.  THE DEADLINE FOR THE WRITING COMPETITION IS 5PM DECEMBER 17, 2012 WITH EARLY ENTRIES ACCEPTED BEGINNING DECEMBER 1, 2012.  COMPLETE GUIDELINES AND RELEASE FORMS FOR THE COMPETITION CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM HILDEGARD'S WEBSITE AT www.hildegardcenter.org.

HILDEGARD CENTER FOR THE ARTS IS A 501 (c) (3) NON-PROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED IN 2009.  CURRENTLY "WITHOUT WALLS", HILDEGARD PARTNERS WITH EXISTING ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITIES TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES IN THE VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS, AS WELL AS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS INVOLVING THE ARTS, HUMANITY AND THE "ART OF LIVING".
