Weeping Water Overview of ECNC (Eastern Central Nebraska Conference) Basketball Tournament:

Both the boys' and girls' Weeping Water basketball teams tried their hardest this year at the ECNC tournaments. The ECNC tournament was held the week of January 27-February 4th. Weeping Water girls' first game was at Tecumseh where they played Tecumseh. The girls lost with a score of 31-63. They had a day of rest before they had to play again at Murdock against Palmyra. Weeping Water lost with a score of 21-36, sadly eliminating them from the ECNC tournament.

The Weeping Water boys' first game was against Cedar Bluffs at Murdock. They won easily with a score of 66-36. After a couple of days of rest the boys played Elmwood-Murdock at Southeast Community College in Lincoln. This game was a very exciting and close game. But in the end the boys lost in overtime with a score of 52-53. The next day they played Mead at Southeast once again and lost 39-49. The boys finished the ECNC tournament in 4 th place.

Soup Supper Fundraiser: On Sunday, February 11 there will be a soup lunch fundraiser at the First Congregational United Church of Christ to help raise money for my educational trip to Washington D.C. The soup lunch is from 12:00 noon – 1:30 p.m. The cost is a free will donation. The menu consists of: homemade chili, homemade chicken noodle soup, relishes, desserts, and drinks. My close-up trip to Washington is soon approaching and like the other students in my class I still have some money to raise. Thank you to all of the wonderful people in Weeping Water who have helped many of us with our expenses for this trip. It's wonderful living in a small town where everyone is willing to help everyone else out. Thank you and I hope to see you at the soup lunch!
