Reminder to all residents. Pet licenses are due this Friday, May 1st. Pet citations will be issued on or after May 15th, so please stop by the office to license your pet before that date in order to avoid receiving a citation. As always, please let the office know if you no longer have your pet, so we can remove you from our list. There is a $7 licensing fee and proof of rabies vaccine must be shown.
Any person owns, possesses, keeps, harbors, or has charge, custody, or control of an animal or permits an animal to habitually remain or be lodged or fed within his or her house, store, building, enclosure, yard, lot, grounds, or premises must license that animal. This includes BOTH dogs and cats.
The Community Garage Sales will be held this weekend, May 1st and 2nd.
Senior meals are available at the Hopper Community Center, 101 W Eldora Ave., Suite 3, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Call Ruth Vogt at 402-267-5303 to order a meal or schedule a delivery.

Free fiddle and Harmonica workshops will take place on Saturday, May 23, at the National Homestead Monument in Beatrice, Nebraska. At 10am, there will be a FREE fiddle workshop led by championship fidder Deborah Greenblatt. At 11am, there will be a FREE harmonica workshop led by multi-instrumentalist, David Seay. These FREE workshops are part of a full day of fun and free activities during the Tallgrass Prairie Fiddle Festival, formerly known as the Monumental Fiddle Championship. Greenblatt & Seay are Master Artists with the Nebraska Arts Council, and particpants in the Humanities Nebraska Speakers Bureau.
On Sunday, May 10, at 2:30pm in the Old Avoca Nebraska Schoolhouse, multi-instrumentalists, Greenblatt & Seay, will be performing a selection of original songs from their vast collection of hundreds of zany tunes that they have created together. This talented duo provides rich vocal harmonies, and will play a variety of instruments, including 5-string viola, fiddle, guitar, nyckelharpa, harmonica, banjo, bass, etc.
The family-friendly concert will be downstairs, followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and jam with Greenblatt & Seay. Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13C Spur, one mile south of Highway 34.
The historic Old Avoca Schoolhouse was built in 1925, and has been the home of the Schoolhouse Performance Series since 1990. Music lessons, workshops, fiddle camps, and field trips are offered by Schoolhouse residents, Greenblatt & Seay, and are available by appointment.
