Don’t Monkey Around—Join Our Prayer Safari at Kingdom of the Son!!
We’re excited about the Weeping Water Community Vacation Bible School to be held July 27-31. This year’s program is Kingdom of the Son, a week of safari adventure!
Children will embark on a prayer safari into the Kingdom of the Son. Through their adventures, children will discover that “God Listens,” “God Provides,” “God Forgives,” “God Protects” and “God Rules!” We will have a great time with lively songs, hilarious skits, creative crafts, exciting games, Bible stories and tasty snacks—all of the things that make Vacation Bible School so much fun for children. On top of that, we will be helping children learn to know God through prayers.
Kingdom of the Son can be an inspirational and educational expedition for your entire family. Classes for children begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00. The opening, closing, and all classes will be held at the Faith Missionary Church in Weeping Water. For Immediate Release: New Driver License Security Initiatives
June 5, 2009, Lincoln – On June 22nd the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will begin the statewide implementation of the latest changes to its Digital Driver License System. The new changes were authorized by the passage of LB 911 in 2008. I did not vote for LB 911, but it is now the law. I believe that you should be aware of the most recent changes that will be in effect when you apply for or renew a driver license.
Over the past nine years, the DMV has made continuous changes to its driver license system. The DMV has dedicated its efforts to improving the security and integrity of its data, with a focus on reducing opportunities for fraud, identity theft and card counterfeiting.
The following modifications to the system will have the most immediate impact on Nebraska citizens:
§ Applicants will be required to provide two forms of proof of principal residence. (e.g. bank statement, property tax statement, and/or bill statements less than 90 days old.)
§ An applicant for a new driver license or state issued identification card will be required to present one form of U.S. based identification that includes the applicant’s full legal name.
§ Applicants’ photos will be taken at the beginning of the process by DMV examiners, rather than at the end by staff from the county treasurer’s office.
§ Applicants will receive a 30-day temporary driver license, before receiving the permanent license or state identification card in the mail.
§ Centrally issued driver licenses and state identification cards will be produced at a secure facility and mailed to valid cardholders within five to seven business days after the applicant’s identity is verified.
§ A $2.50 security surcharge will be added to the base cost of each license and identification card.
In an effort to inform the public about the changes that are being implemented, the Department of Motor Vehicles prepared and will distribute two documents. The first one is a fact sheet brochure that is being sent to all of the county treasurers, the DMV examining staff, public libraries and the media. The second document will be sent to all license renewal candidates and cardholders as an insert in their 90-day renewal notice. The insert contains specific information about the new changes, a website address that contains more information and helpful advice about how to plan for a visit to a DMV office.
I receive a lot of mail in my legislative office. From time to time I see information that you should have, as well. This certainly applies to the driver license changes produced by LB 911.
If you need to renew a driver license, or obtain a new license or state identification card, be sure to review the insert in your renewal notice or a fact sheet brochure before you begin the application process. If you have questions about the new requirements, you may call the examining office in your county.
I appreciate the opportunity you have given me to represent District 2 in the Nebraska Legislature.
We welcome your contacts by mail, phone or email.
