Garbage carts that have been delivered by Cass County Refuse CANNOT be used for recycling. They are for garbage collection only.
Please consider recycling. Just use a separate container and obtain a sticker from the city office to put on your container. No sorting necessary. They will take everything except glass, styrofoam, disposable diapers, and plastic bags. It's picked up right at your curbside every Wednesday morning!!!!

The invincibles, a fellowship group for seniors 55+, begins on Monday @10:30am at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) north of the Weeping Water Post Office.
Nine out of ten women will be widows before they die. Older people are looking at how to live in the second half of life. Coffee and snacks will be served.
We have small groups for youth, those coping with mental illness, and those trying to find joy despite addictions. Groups are open to anyone.

Mark your calendars: The 2013 Cass County Fair dates are August 6-10, 2013.
Cass County Fair 4-H Auction Supporters (family, friends, businesses, alumni) are invited to show support for Cass County 4-Hers by attending one of two 4-H auctions held during the Cass County Fair.
The 4-H cake auction starts at 6:30pm on Tuesday evening August 6, at the open air auditorium on the Cass County fairgrounds. It provides an opportunity to purchase fancy or decorated cakes, pies, and/or specialty breads baked and decorated by 4-H members. The proceeds of this event will be divided between the participating 4-Her and the Cass County 4-H Council. 4-H Council funds raised at this event help sponsor activities for 4-H members throughout the year. Auction supporters are invited to stay for the Fashion Show/Awards program following the auction. A Sneak Peek and Refreshments will be held for everyone at the 4-H Building following this event.
The 4-H Livestock Auction starts at 3pm on Sunday afternoon, August 11, in the livestock barn. Livestock judging awards will be presented to the 4-Hers before the auction at 2:45pm. The Cass County 4-H Council clerks this premium sale which is held for maket animals only. Each exhibitor is allowed to sell one animal of each species as premium only, meaning dollars per head not cents per pound. Exhibitors retaining ownership will only receive the premium from the sale. Exhibitors of shipped animals will receive the premium from the buyer in addition to the sale proceeds from the buyer of the animal.

The Cass County Fair is again sponsoring a video contest.
An advance pre-registration form must be submitted prior to making and submitting your video. The form can be filled out and submitted online.

The deadline for submission of your video will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 5pm. Winners will be announced and the videos published on the Fair Website www.CassFair.com on August 18, 2013. This will give time for both creative editing and careful judging.
