NOTES FROM WEEPING WATER CITY HALL:

Volunteers from the City of Weeping Water will be distributing Community Attitude Surveys between September 17 and 27th. City Officials are requesting community participation and cooperation in completing the survey which is a crucial step in seeking funding from local, regional, state and federal funding to plan and complete a variety of community and economic development projects. Such improvements may include, but are not limited to, street improvement, water and sewer system improvements, housing rehabilitation activities, cultural, park and recreation improvements, planning studies and economic development initiatives. Many of these programs require a local match which is why city officials want to know what areas or issues residents feel are in need of improvement. Community input will allow city officials to more effectively allocate limited resources for maximum public benefit. All survey results will be kept confidential and will be tabulated by an independent professional organization. Compiled results of the survey will be discussed at a public meeting to be scheduled in October of 2007. Any questions or concerns regarding the survey may be directed to City Hall at 267-5152.

PET LICENSING: All dogs and cats at least six month of age must be licensed by May 1 of each year, regardless of whether it is an indoor or outdoor pet.

In order to help protect the privacy and safety of local citizens, the Weeping Water City Council recently adopted an ordinance prohibiting door-to-door salesmen or solicitors. If you should be approached by a solicitor, please report it to the Cass County Sheriff's Office by calling the non-emergency number at 296-9370.  Any details regarding personal, company, and vehicle identification will be helpful for the Sheriff's Department in tracking these people down.  These provisions DO NOT APPLY to residential sales persons who have an established route, such as Schwans's, Avon, etc.The provisions also DO NOT APPLY to local non profit organizations such as school or church fundraisers.
